Im Rahmen von Seminaren entstehen immer wieder auch spannende Blogs, virtuelle Ausstellungen und andere Online-Publikationen von Studierenden oder mit studentischer Beteiligung. Sie machen die Ergebnisse aus den Lehrveranstaltungen und aus studentischen Arbeiten sichtbar.

BLACK MATTERS
BLACK MATTERS is a project created by students of the English Department of the University of Zurich, Switzerland. It showcases our insights after a semester of engaging with African-American culture in depth. With this virtual exhibition, we would like to share our deep admiration and respect for the experiences, struggles, performances, expressions and narratives of Black people in the USA.
Each room presents a different perspective on Blackness in the USA. You can start from any point and explore at will. We wish you an informative journey through this virtual space!
Documenting the Periphery. Nordic Colonialism through the Centuries
The blog is developed in the context of the MA module „Skandinavien aktuell“ by postgraduate students from the universities of Basel and Zurich. The aim is to shed light on aspects of the Scandinavian cultures from the Viking age to the 21st century, by drawing on postcolonial theories.
The topics of the posts range from medieval discourses about cross-cultural contacts with other ethnic groups like the Sami or the Skrælingar, to the establishment of colonial structures of power in the late medieval and early modern north, and up to most recent developments subsequently to the Black Lives Matter movement in the most recent past.

Der Blog versammelt auf Anregung und unter engagierter Mitarbeit der Seminarteilnehmer*innen des titelgebenden Kurses „Ins Weißgebiet“ Diskussionsergebnisse, Zusatzmaterialien und weiterführende Informationen der gemeinsamen Arbeit an einer literatur- und kulturwissenschaftlichen Erschließung der Polargebiete. Das Seminar wurde im FS 2021 von Thomas Traupmann am Deutschen Seminar der Universität Zürich durchgeführt.
